Romy Taylor

Romy Taylor is a Spanish-English singer-songwriter and performer building a presence in the UK’s alt-pop and jazz scenes. Currently studying at Leeds Conservatoire, her sound blends contemporary jazz, soulful vocals, and lyrical honesty — shifting with ease between intimate ballads and rhythm-driven grooves.

Romy draws influence from artists like Nai Palm, Lucy Rose, Björk, and Minnie Riperton, combining emotional clarity with sonic detail. The result is a sound that balances space and structure — intimate, textured, and shaped by a reflective approach to songwriting.

Over the past year, Romy’s presence has grown both on stage and on air. She’s played We Out Here Festival, sold out her debut headliner in Leeds, and been shortlisted for spots at Tramlines and Truck Festival. Her releases have also found regular airtime on BBC Introducing and Radio 5 Live, further anchoring her in the wider UK scene.

Her upcoming release, Nectarine, builds on that momentum. The track layers syncopated motifs, soft harmonies, and a spoken-word section that unfolds like a passing thought. It leans into tension — rhythmically and emotionally — before letting it go. It’s honest, dynamic, and quietly bold.

Romy is currently preparing for her second headline show at Hyde Park Book Club, and you can book your tickets to see her live here.

With each release, she continues to carve out something distinct — a sound that doesn’t just create atmosphere, but invites you into it.
